Our first visit to The District and we felt like we were in a high end restaurant in the French Quarter, not downtown Ponchatoula. The hostess (who was also our server) could tell it was date night and offered us the intimate seating in their lounge area. Wonderful atmosphere. For those wanting a more vibrant feel, the main dining area and the bar were hopping when we walked through. With different areas with built in nooks and crannies, you can get whatever vibe you want. The food? Wow. All the posts about the Voodoo Eggrolls were spot on. Perfect crunch, and the most delicious gooey, seafoody goodness inside. Topped with cabbage shreds and a pepper jelly sauce that were the perfect complement. Failed to take a picture because we vacuumed them up so fast. She ordered the Shrimp and Gouda grits, and said they were the best she’s had, and this is one of her favorites. Could see the strings of melted cheese and the sauce was perfect, and the shrimp were generous and cooked to perfection. I had their Cajun Pasta, creamy goodness full of grilled shrimp and fried crawfish tails over Cellentini pasta. Delicious, and I could only eat half because it was a huge bowl. Cocktails were also very creative. Wish we had kept track of the names, but mine was a different sort of spin on an Old Fashioned using strawberry whiskey (infused in house?) and she had a cactus/pear martini, presentations were top notch and the drinks delicious. Having just moved to the area, looks like we’ve already found our go to spot for a night out. And a special shoutout to Allie our server. She was absolutely delightful, had good input on the menu when we had questions and was very attentive, even though we were her only table in our area. We will request her again!
Sean was incredible. Literally one of the best Bartenders I’ve ever been served by. I’ve lived in Nola my whole. Been abroad. Been everywhere. This place is incredible. Shout out to Allie as well for finding the Mezcal. Ask for Tajin.
Tyler was so kind! From the time I was seated to the end of my experience, Tyler smiled, checked my table SEVERAL times (each time with a smile), and he made sure that I was comfortable!! The food was great today (this is the second time I’ve been here). The truffle fries, garlic parmesan wings and a BLUEBERRY LEMON DROP 👌 Loved the experience
